I'm staying at a hot-spring resort in Kii-Katsuura , which is spread over it's own mountainous island. It has six different hot-springs with the one I just soaked being reached by a journey using three escalators, each slightly longer than the ones at Parliament Station in Melbourne! (80 metre vertical climb). They even have hot-springs in caves that look out over the sea.
Dinner was a buffet which included an amazing amount of tuna - the fresh kind, not out of a can, both cooked and as sushi/sashimi. Apparently Kii-Katsuura is a centre of tuna fishing as well as whale watching...
